About This Freight Car

The black 6465 Lionel Lines Tank Car was introduced by Lionel in 1959 and was sold for only that one year. The car's body consists of molded black plastic with white rubber-stamped lettering. This 2-dome Tank Car is very similar in construction to the other plastic 2-dome tank cars that Lionel produced in the late 50s and throughout the 60s.

Additional Details

The 6465 Lionel Lines came with AAR trucks and operating couplers. Most of the black 6465 tank cars came unboxed in the 1959 Alaskan set and the car is sought after by collectors because of its association with the Alaska pieces. Because it was available for only one year, it is somewhat scarce. In addition, the ends and the side catwalks are often broken and therefore, this car is somewhat difficult to find in collector-quality condition.
