6437 Pennsylvania N5c Caboose (1961 - 1968) |
---|
About This Caboose
The 6437 Pennsylvania N5c (porthole) Caboose was introduced by Lionel in 1961 and was sold for eight years (through 1968). For much of that timeframe, the 6437 was Lionel's top-of-the-line caboose. The body color is Tuscan with white, heat-stamped lettering. The common version was painted in a flat finish while a harder-to-find glossy version also exists. The center cupola and interior illumination helped to further dress this caboose.

Additional Details
The 6437 is one of a series of N5c cabooses produced by Lionel in the postwar
era. These cabooses were faithful to their prototypes and hence very realistic. The separate
end pieces which contained the steps, ladders, railings and brakewheels are somewhat fragile
and easily broken. Reproduction ends are available. The 6437 caboose only came with AAR trucks
and either a single operating coupler or two operating couplers.
